On April 10, 2012, Mills was critically injured by an improvised explosive device (IED), while on his third tour in Afghanistan. Travis is one of only five surviving quadruple amputees from the US military action in Iraq and Afghanistan. His message is one of hope and determination, but also humility and humor!
